Omer Delmas began farming 3 hectares of vineyards located in the Haute Vallée terroir of the Limoux appellation in southwestern France, which he inherited from his father in 1914. Omer’s son, Bernard, later took over the family estate with the desire to continue and build on his father’s legacy.
Near the charming village of Antugnac, the estate and its vineyards are situated in southern part of the Limoux appellation, closest to the Pyrenees mountains at an altitude of around 300 meters above sea level. This terroir’s microclimate provides ideal conditions for the production of the sparkling wines of Limoux - blanquette and crémant – of which the winemakers of the Limoux area have been making passionately since the 16th century.
Over the last 30 years, under the direction of Bernard and Marlène Delmas, it is this same passion for the land and its vines that motivated the estate to convert to organic viticulture in 1986. Today, the estate now has 31 hectares under vine, planted with mainly mauzac, chardonnay, and chenin blanc, and has a total production of 160,000 bottles per year.
